Sissy Screens is a queer screen culture platform. We champion queer cinema and feature videos, essays, photography and host screenings and events. Directed by queer and gender diverse artists who are passionate about showcasing queer artists and their work, Sissy Screens is a not-for-profit organisation interested in content that provides a nuanced and evolving representation of LGBTQIA+ experiences.

AMERY OKE-JOHNSTON
Creative Director
Amery Oke-Johnston is a multi-disciplined designer. He has worked across multiple queer and arts related projects, such as the design execution and re-brand of TILDE, Trans & Gender Diverse Film Festival and publication design for ‘Clear Expectations, Guidelines for Institutions, Galleries and Curators working with Trans, Non-Binary and Gender Diverse Artists’ (a NAVA funded project).
The foundation of his approach is derived from the concept that design should not only touch the mind, but also the heart.

Alex Cardy is an award-winning Australian director of photography who works across films, documentaries, moving-image installations and expanded online projects.
Her work has been selected at top-tier festivals including Toronto International Film Festival, Edinburgh International Film Festival & Melbourne International Film Festival and her work has premiered on Nowness and appeared at Outfest & RISING Festival. Alex has worked on content and commercials for brands such as Nike, Google, Champion, Bonds, Jeanswest, Lee & Land Rover. Outside of narrative & commercial work, Alex has collaborated with iconic Australian contemporary artists on their moving-image installations including Patricia Piccinini's We Walk Together and Eugenia Lim's On Demand & Easy Riders.

NKECHI ANELE

Nkechi Anele has spent over a decade in the Australian music industry as the lead singer in Saskwatch, touring and performing nationally and internationally.
In 2015, she, along with best friend Lucie Cutting, started The Pin, a discussion platform about race, identity and culture through an Australian lens. With the changing narrative around social identity politics and race in Australia, the two sort out to document the lived experience of BIPOC people, build a bank of knowledge and foster a community for all people could grow and discover. Nkechi took the helm as host and producer of the weekly music program Roots N' All on triple j for five years. In this role, she championed Australian artists and international musicians and the emerging global music scenes worldwide to a national audience.
Creatively, Nkechi has lent herself to the stage (Caroline, or Change, dir. Mitchel Butel), screen (Rare Birds, dir. Melanie Scammell), television (Rock Wiz) and has been a featured vocalist for bands and touring musicians. Nkechi has also featured in publications such as Letters of Love and Bri Lee's Beauty.

PARKER BLAIN

Parker is an Australian photographer who specialises in documentary, portrait and lifestyle projects. His work has been featured in numerous publications and has exhibited in Australia, New York, London and Berlin.
His project Self Made began in 2004 as a photo series documenting trans men in Sydney but soon evolved into a way for Parker to express himself and begin his ongoing trans journey.
Celebrating gender diverse artists, Parker curates exhibitions with his community and continues to champion and promote their work.

Having worked at The Monthly, Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation, Creative Victoria and now Bushfire Recovery Victoria, she has a sweet mix of publishing, non-profit and gov experience. It won’t surprise that she loves books, food, talking politics and changing the world.
